Perugini led the Penguins to a pair of victories last week with a 71-68 win over Detroit and a 75-68 win at UW-Milwaukee. It also marked the first time YSU defeated a pair of League opponents in the same week this season. For the week, the 6-foot-2 forward averaged 17 points and 10.5 rebounds per game while shooting 60 percent from the floor and 76.9 percent from the free throw line. She tallied her 12th and 13th double-doubles of the season with 17 points and 11 rebounds against the Titans and 17 points and 10 boards against the Panthers. Perugini went 5-of-10 from the field against Detroit and 7-of-10 against UWM. Against the Panthers, Perugini scored 13 of her 17 points in the second half, and 10 of those 13 in the last six minutes of the game.
Other Top Performers
Cortney Urquhart, Butler, Senior, Center, Somerset Center, Mich./Hanover-Horton
Urquhart posted two double-doubles last week, leading the Bulldogs to a 2-0 finish in a pair of Horizon League contests. At Cleveland State Thursday, Urquhart set career-highs with 16 rebounds and seven steals to go along with 13 points. Saturday at Hinkle Fieldhouse, Urquhart registered a game-high 14 points and 10 rebounds as the Bulldogs beat Loyola on Senior Day. For the week, Urquhart averaged 13.5 points, 13.0 rebounds and five steals per game. She moved into 11th place on Butler's career scoring list, currently just 16 points shy of cracking the Top Ten with 1,141 points. The senior has posted double-doubles in three of the Bulldogs' last four games and has scored in double figures in eight straight contests.
Erin Martin, Cleveland State, Junior, Guard, Canfield, Ohio/Canfield
Martin closed out the regular season with another solid week, averaging 16.0 points, 8.0 rebounds, 3.0 assists and 3.0 steals. On Thursday against Butler, she tallied her third double-double of the season, posting 20 points and a career-high 11 rebounds. Two days later versus Wright State, she tallied 12 points and a season-high five steals.
Lindsey Pasquinzo, Detroit, Junior, Guard, Birmingham, Shelby Twp., Mich/Utica
Pasquinzo put on a shooting clinic in the Titans' lone game of the week, a 71-68 setback at Youngstown State. Over the course of the final 2:19 of regulation, Pasquinzo dropped 15 of her career-best 25 points on the Penguins, all the tallies coming on three-pointers. She then drained three of her five triples in the final 33 seconds. Pasquinzo finished the game shooting an identical 55.6 percent from both the floor (10-of-18) and from beyond the arc (5-of-9) while also pulling down four rebounds and recording two steals.
Abby Scharlow, UW-Green Bay, Senior, Guard, New Albany, Ind./New Albany
Scharlow lifted the Phoenix to a pair of League wins, as UW-Green Bay clinched its seventh consecutive Horizon League title. Against UW-Milwaukee Feb. 24, Scharlow led the Phoenix in nearly every way, posting team bests of 14 points, seven rebounds, six assists, five steals and two blocked shots in UW-Green Bay's 65-53 victory. Then, two days later against UIC, Scharlow tallied 16 points to go with four assists and two steals in UW-Green Bay's 74-53 victory over the Flames.
Brittney Whiteside, Wright State, Sophomore, Guard, Columbus, Ohio/Mifflin
Whiteside tallied 16 points (7-10 from the field) with seven rebounds and four assists in an 80-53 victory over Loyola. Two days later, Whiteside posted a double-double of 16 points, including two free throws with 3.8 seconds left, and 13 rebounds along with four assists at Cleveland State.
