HORIZON LEAGUE HEADLINES
1. Loyola's Maggie McCloskey tied the NCAA record on Dec. 23 by making a 3-pointer in her 60th straight game. She scored 35 points and hit nine 3-pointers on Dec. 18 against Central Michigan. It stands as the highest scoring performance for any player this season.
2. Horizon League teams are 25-16 at home and 20-39 in road/neutral games.
3. Cleveland State's Kailey Klein leads the Horizon League with 19.2 points per game. Milwaukee's Traci Edwards is second at 19.0.

BUTLER BULLDOGS (5-6)
Senior Lade Akande now stands third on Butler's all-time scoring list with 1,503 points. She needs 15 points to move into second place on the school's scoring chart. Butler has received more bench scoring than its opponents in all but one of its games this season. More than 42 percent of the Bulldogs' scoring comes from the team's bench. Senior Candyce Brown is second in the Horizon League with a 2.6 assist-to-turnover ratio. BU's Tara Miller (1.5, 4th) and Brittany Bowen (1.3, 9th) are also among the League leaders. Butler had 25 steals against Christian Brothers on Dec. 29, the highest single-game total in the Horizon League this season. The Bulldogs now lead the conference with 11.2 steals per game.
CLEVELAND STATE VIKINGS (6-6)
Cleveland State improved to 4-1 at home with a 27-point win over Buffalo on Dec. 29. The Vikings have won 13 of their last 19 contests at the Wolstein Center. Junior Kailey Klein is leading the Horizon League with 19.2 points per game. She is the only League player to appear in the top 10 in points, rebounds (6.3, 9th) and assists (3.3, 8th). Kailey Klein scored 30 points at Ohio State on Dec. 15. The performance was her sixth career 30-point game, which is the most in CSU history. Senior Dominique Butler, last year's Horizon League Defensive Player of the Year, leads the Horizon League with 3.33 steals per game. Sophomore Shawnita Garland is shooting 55.6 percent from the floor, which leads the Horizon League. She is one of four League players shooting at least 55 percent for the season.
DETROIT TITANS (4-7)
Detroit had its two-game winning streak snapped with an 80-59 loss at Canisius on Dec. 28. Junior Brigid Mulroy scored a team-high 14 points against Canisius. Mulroy leads UDM with seven double-digit scoring performances. She also had a career-best eight rebounds against the Golden Griffins. Senior Zemora Davis and freshman Lauren Allen each added 12 points against Canisius.
GREEN BAY PHOENIX (8-3)
Green Bay is off to an 8-3 start for the fourth consecutive season. The Phoenix started 9-2 after 11 games in the 2004-05 season. The Phoenix is 4-1 on the road, with its lone loss coming at DePaul on Dec. 29. Senior Rachel Porath surpassed the 1,000-point mark for her career, reaching the milestone in the first half against Marquette on Dec. 20. She became the 25th Phoenix player to total 1,000 points. Green Bay is holding teams to 54.9 points per game, by far the best mark in the Horizon League. Opponents are shooting just 25.1 percent from beyond the arc against the Phoenix.
LOYOLA RAMBLERS (5-5)
Loyola will enter Horizon League play on Jan. 3 with a .500 record for the first time since the 2001-02 season. Junior Maggie McCloskey tied the NCAA record for consecutive games with at least one 3-pointer made, extending her streak to 60 games at Dayton on Dec. 23. McCloskey leads the Horizon League in both 3-point percentage (.459) and 3-pointers made (3.4). Maggie McCloskey's 35-point effort against Central Michigan on Dec. 18 was Loyola's first 35-point performance since Dec. 2, 1987. McCloskey was also just three points shy of the Ramblers' single-game record. Loyola leads the Horizon League in scoring offense with 68.1 points per game and field goal percentage (.448).
MILWAUKEE PANTHERS (4-6)
Senior Traci Edwards needs three points to move into second on the Horizon League's all-time scoring list. Edwards has 1,962 points, two points behind Green Bay's Chari Nordgaard (1995-99). Edwards needs 38 points to become the second player in League history to score 2,000 points. Traci Edwards became Milwaukee's all-time Division I leading rebounder against Evansville on Dec. 22. Edwards has pulled down 982 career boards. Traci Edwards is second in the Horizon League in scoring (19.0), field goal percentage (.553) and fourth in rebounding (7.9).
UIC FLAMES (5-4)
Freshman Jasmine Bailey, this week's Horizon League player of the week, shot 17-for-20 in two games last week. She scored 16 points on 8-for-10 shooting against DePaul on Dec. 22, and then scored 21 points on 9-for-10 against San Diego on Dec. 28. The Flames lead the Horizon League in rebounding, grabbing 42.4 boards per game. UIC is fourth in the League in rebounding margin (+1.4). UIC leads the Horizon League in blocks per game (4.3) and ranks second in assist-to-turnover ratio (15.4).
VALPARAISO CRUSADERS (4-5)
Valparaiso has played three straight ranked teams (Purdue, Notre Dame and South Dakota State) for the first time in school history. The Crusaders had never played more than two ranked opponents before this year. Senior Agnieszka Kulaga scored four points at South Dakota State on Dec. 21, snapping her string of 17 consecutive double-digit scoring performances. Kulaga ranks third in the Horizon League with 16.7 points per game. Senior Launa Hochstetler ranks ninth on Valparaiso's all-time assists list with 264 career helpers, but she took a scoring role in Valpo's game at South Dakota State. Hochstetler scored a career-high 24 points, including 20 in the second half. Valparaiso has played in front of more than 1,000 fans in seven of its last eight games. The Crusaders are currently second in the Horizon League with a 1,580 attendance average (all games).
WRIGHT STATE RAIDERS (4-7)
Wright State concluded non-conference play with a 63-57 win over IPFW on Dec. 29. Sophomore Ta-Myra Davis scored 19 points and grabbed nine rebounds. Fellow sophomore Shey Peddy added 10 points, nine rebounds and six assists. The Raiders shot 51 percent (25-for-49) in the contest. Wright State is second in the Horizon League in scoring defense (59.4) and is third in the conference in rebounding margin (+1.6).
YOUNGSTOWN STATE PENGUINS (2-8)
Tonight's (Dec. 30) Youngstow State-Toledo game will feature two first-year head coaches. YSU is led by Cindy Martin, while Tricia Cullop is in her first year at Toledo. Youngstown State has not won at Toledo since 1999. Youngstown State opens its eighth Horizon League season at Valparaiso on Jan. 3. The Penguins are 2-5 in Horizon League openers, but 0-3 on the road. Senior Nikita LaFleur leads the Horizon League in rebounding (8.7) and ranks fourth in field goal percentage (.550).
