HORIZON LEAGUE NEWS AND NOTES

NUMBER ONE SEED - LOYOLA (12-8-0, 7-1-0)
-- Top-seed Loyola clinched a share of the regular season league title for the first time in school history. The Ramblers have won the last two Horizon League championships.

-- Junior Cynthia Morote-Ariza matched her single-season school record with 43 points. She leads the nation with 17 assists, and is third in the nation with 0.85 helpers per match.

-- Sophomore Laura Trevillian netted her first career hat trick in the win over Youngstown State, scoring three goals in the second half. It was the first three-goal outing by a Horizon League player this season.

-- Loyola will play the winner of Youngstown State at Valparaiso. The Ramblers defeated both teams by a combined margin of 8-1.

NUMBER TWO SEED - MILWAUKEE (15-2-2, 7-1-0)
-- No. 18 Milwaukee claimed a share of the Horizon League regular season title for the ninth straight season. The Panthers, who were 26th in the most recent RPI ratings, have won six straight matches.

-- UWM outscored its opponents, 51-14, this season, including a 26-2 advantage in Horizon League matches.

-- Freshman Sarah Hagen tied the Horizon League freshman record with 20 goals. She needs one more tally to equal the all-time conference record of 21, which was set in 1994. Her total of 20 goals is the highest mark in the nation.

-- Milwaukee hosts No. 7 Green Bay Sunday at 2 p.m. The Panthers defeated the Phoenix, 2-0, on Sept. 26.

NUMBER THREE SEED - WRIGHT STATE (9-8-1, 4-3-1)
-- Wright State has earned the No. 3 seed in the tournament for the third consecutive year. The Raiders were the No. 4 seed in 2005.

-- Jess Rooma and Amber Kasmer are tied for the team lead and rank eighth in the Horizon League with 16 points.

-- The Raiders will host No. 6 Cleveland State Sunday at 1 p.m. The two teams tied, 0-0, on Sept. 26.

NUMBER FOUR SEED - BUTLER (10-10-0, 4-4-0)
-- With 10 wins this season, Butler has matched its total from last year.

-- Junior Molly Kruger is the Bulldogs' offensive leader, totaling nine goals and seven assists for 25 points. Carrie Twyman is second on the team with 18 points (6g, 6a).

-- Butler, the No. 4 seed, will host No. 5 Detroit Sunday at noon. The Bulldogs won the regular season tilt between the two teams, 3-2, on Oct. 5.

NUMBER FIVE SEED - DETROIT (8-8-1, 4-4-0)
-- The Titans finished .500 or better in Horizon League play for the eighth time in the last nine years.

-- Detroit travels to No. 4 Butler on Sunday. The Bulldogs won at Detroit, 3-2, on Oct. 5.

NUMBER SIX SEED - CLEVELAND STATE (8-9-1, 3-4-1)
-- With wins in four of the last five matches to close the regular season, Cleveland State shattered the school record for victories in a season with eight. The previous school record was five wins, set last year.

-- This week marks the first time in CSU's five-year women's soccer history that the Vikings have finished better than the No. 8 seed in the tournament. The team won one conference game in the previous four years.

-- Freshman Natalie Daniels is Cleveland State's leading scorer with 15 points (5g, 5a). If she finishes the season in the team lead, she will become the third freshman to lead the squad in points during the team's first five seasons of play.

NUMBER SEVEN SEED - GREEN BAY (5-6-4, 2-4-2)
-- Green Bay finished the regular season with a 2-1 victory over Detroit on the team's senior day, and a pair of Phoenix seniors played a role in both of Green Bay's goals. Sharon Zurbey scored a goal and classmate Claire Townsend added an assist to help Green Bay pick up its second Horizon League victory.

-- Chelsea Lyons and Claire Townsend each lead the Phoenix with 10 points. Lyons has four goals and two assists, while Townsend has three goals and four assists.

-- Green Bay travels to No. 2 Milwaukee Sunday at 2 p.m. UWM won the two teams' regular season match, 2-0, on Sept. 26.

NUMBER EIGHT SEED - VALPARAISO (10-6-2, 2-5-1)
-- Valpo goalkeeper Mele Cabral leads the Horizon League in goals-against average (0.75) and shutouts (9). Her nine clean sheets is a school record. She also ranks second in the conference in save percentage (.835).

-- Valparaiso hosts No. 9 Youngstown State in the first round of the U.S. Army Horizon League Women's Soccer Championship Wednesday at 3 p.m. The Crusaders defeated YSU, 2-1, on Oct. 3.

NUMBER NINE SEED - YOUNGSTOWN STATE (4-13-1, 0-7-1)
-- Youngstown State is making its second consecutive appearance in the first round No. 8/9 game. Ninth seed Cleveland State defeated the Penguins, 2-1, in overtime in last year's first round match. YSU is searching for its first Horizon League tournament match victory.

-- Lauren Brennan and Jodi Bowlen are tied for the team lead with 10 points. Each player has a team-high four goals with two assists.

-- YSU goalkeeper Mariah Snyder is ranked 10th in the nation with 7.28 saves per game. She has a Horizon League-best 131 stops this season.
