Horizon League Women's Soccer Player of the Week
Erin Kane, UW-Milwaukee, Freshman, Goalkeeper, St. Charles, Ill./North
Kane made her first two collegiate starts in goal, allowing one goal in 200 minutes of action, making nine saves and posting a .45 GAA. after making three saves in a 1-0 loss to Northwestern on Friday, she held No. 13 Illinois scoreless through two overtimes for her first shutout as a Panther. Kane made six saves against the Illini to preserve the shutout.

Other Top Performers
Angie Muir, Butler, Defender/Midfielder, Freshman, Carmel, Ind.
Muir picked up the first points of her Butler career, assisting on both goals in Butler's match Sunday at Ball State. The 2004 Indiana "Player of the Year" fired four shots over the weekend.

Rachel Stesney, Detroit, Freshman, Forward, Troy, Mich.
Stesney scored the game winning goal in the Titans' 3-0 win over DePaul on friday in the openign round of the Boilermaker Challenge Cup. She also added an assist on the Titans' second goal for a three point weekend. Stesney totaled three shots on goal for the weekend as Detroit was the runner-up at the tournament to Cal Poly.

Emily Peick, Loyola, Junior, Goalkeeper, Mendota Hights, Minn.
Peick tallied nine saves in Loyola's 3-0 season-opening loss to host Xavier last Friday in Cincinnati, Ohio. The 5'9" junior goalkeeper recorded six saves int he first half to keep the Ramblers in the match.

Lotte Rasmussen, UW-Green Bay, Sophomore, ForwardSamsoe, Denmark
Rasmussen took little time to get used to her new surroundings, as the sophomore transfer tallied both goals in UW-Green Bay's loss to Illinois State Aug. 28, 4-2. Rasmussen converted on a penalty kick in the first half and followed with a strike from close range in the second half for her two-goal effort. Rasmussen now has the early Phoenix scoring lead in 2005 with four points.

Jodie Shoaf, Wright State, Junior, Midfielder, Dayton, Ohio
Shoaf scored the first goal against Bowling Green on Sunday, netting the tally at the 17:20 mark. Shoaf has now scored six goals in her career, with four of them being the deciding tally.

Jessica Yarter, Youngstown State, Senior, GoalkeeperWeirton, W.V.
Yarter had 12 saves in YSU's two games over the weekend. This was her first time playing goalie after spending her first three years as a midfielder. Against Robert Morris she made eight saves while against Northern Michigan she had four stops.

UW-Milwaukee Panthers
(0-1-1 overall, 0-0-0 Horizon League)
Sunday's scoreless draw with No. 13 Illinois was Milwaukee's first shutout of a ranked team in its Division I history.

For the second straight game four freshmen got the start. Erin Kane, Sarah Teegarden, Beth Steuer and Jodi Klagosstarted the first two games of the season.

Kane and Teegarden represented the Panthers on the Howard Johnson Milwaukee Cup All-Tournament Team.

Detroit Titans
(1-1-0, 0-0-0 Horizon League)
Junior Alex Moraca scored her first career goal in Detroit's 3-0 win over DePaul. For her career, Moraca now has a goal and three assists for a total of five points.

The youth movement is on as the Titans marched out seven freshmen starters in their two opening weekend games. The defending Horizon League champions have 11 total freshman on the roster (nine newcomers, two redshirts) and over the weekend, nine of the 11 saw action.

Freshman goalie Katie Fortenberry posted her first career shutout with a 3-0 blanking of DePaul on Friday, The Flushing, Mich. native made four saves to keep the Blue Demons off the board.

Butler Bulldogs
(0-2-0 overall, 0-0-0 Horizon League)
Due to injuries sustained in both the preseason and in Friday's season opener, Butler had only three healthy position players to bring off the bench in Sunday's game at Ball State.

Freshman Jenny Southard picked up her first Butler goal in Sunday's game.

Coach Woody Sherwood gave the starting nod to transfer Kirby Zwickel in goal for the season opener and then called on junior Megan Cappa in Sunday's game.

UW-Green Bay Phoenix
(0-2-0 overall, 0-0-0 Horizon League)
UW-Green Bay will open its 2005 home schedule this weekend when it entertains Indiana State Friday, Sept. 2. The contest will serve as the annual Homecoming contest for the Phoenix. On Sunday, UW-Green Bay will host Marquette which will mark the first of three home games for the Phoenix against its instate Division I rivals.

The Phoenix posted one of its fastest goals in team history when Sarah Oligney found Stephanie Gross' head on a corner kick just 55 seconds into UW-Green Bay's contest with Northern Illinois Aug. 26.

Wright State Raiders
(1-1-0, 0-0-0 Horizon League)
With the win on Sunday, first-year head coach Pat Ferguson picked up his first win as the Raiders headman. That pushes Ferguson's overall career record to 77-63-11 in his nine years as a head coach.

Kim Chianese tallied the Raiders' final goal in their game against Bowling Green, giving her 28 on her career, which moves her into fourth place on the all-time goals list. With her next goal she will tie Sharon Roscoe for third and she is four goals away from Chris Hawker, who is second on the all-time list.

Junior goalkeeper Steph Comisar shutout the Falcons on Sunday, giving her 10.5 shutouts for her career. Comisar now ranks fourth on the career list, trailing Randi Freeman (17.8), Leigh Ann Brown (18.0) and Linda Duvaull (19.0).

Loyola Ramblers
(0-1-0, 0-0-0 Horizon League)
The Ramblers open their seven-match home schedule at Loyola Soccer Park Sept. 4 with an early evening contest against 2004 NCAA participant Eastern Illinois.

Loyola brought out its young guns for last Friday's season opener at Xavier as eight of the 11 starters were underclassmen, including freshmen Caitlin Brown and Pam Staton.

The Ramblers dropped their first match of the year for the first time since the 1999 season and had a five-year unbeaten streak in season openers before last week.

Youngstown State Penguins
(0-2-0, 0-0-0 Horizon League)
Brittny Humphrey scored the Penguins' first goal of the season in the second half against Robert Morris on Sunday. In 19 games last year Humphrey had a total of two goals.

Sophomore Kara Vezza had six shots, including five on goal, in the two games. Last year she had a total of seven, two of which were at goal.

Caitlin Lee had an assist on Humphrey's goal, marking the first assist of her career.

Cleveland State Vikings
(0-1-0, 0-0-0 Horizon League)
The goal by Walchack against Kent State came 9:33 into the match a and gave CSU its first lead ever (in 21 matches). It took CSU 899 minutes last year to score its first goal.

Redshirt freshman Abbie Kakias made her return from major knee surgery a successful one, assisting on CSU's only goal against Kent State.

The 22-player roster consists of 11 freshmen, 10 sophomores and one junior.
