INDIANAPOLIS -- University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee seniors Shawn Wozniak and Brad Lusti have been named Horizon League Baseball Players of the Week for the period of April 6-12.
A native of Mayville, Wis., Wozniak picks up Batter of the Week accolades after going 10-for-15 (.667) with three doubles, two homers and eight RBI in five games last week. He also registered a 1.267 slugging percentage and .737 on-base percentage for the Panthers.
The first baseman posted three multi-hit efforts during the stretch and recorded at least one base knock in all five contests. His best performance -- 4-for-4 with one homer and three RBI -- came on Friday in a 16-6 win over Wright State University.
Wozniak places among League leaders in RBI (T-4th, 23), doubles (T-5th, 9), home runs (T-6th, 4), slugging percentage (8th, .500) and runs (T-10th, 21).
A native of Menahga, Minn., Lusti notches Pitcher of the Week honors after firing eight scoreless innings on Friday against Wright State. He allowed just two bases on balls and three hits while striking out nine for the Panthers.
Lusti is now 3-0 with a 1.85 ERA in three League starts this season. The right-hander has allowed just four walks while striking out 21 in 24.1 innings during the stretch.
Milwaukee improved to 12-17 overall and 6-3 in conference action with five consecutive wins last week. The Panthers swept Chicago State University in a doubleheader on Tuesday and Wright State in a three-game weekend series.
Milwaukee returns to action on Tuesday when it travels to the University of Minnesota at 4 p.m. ET.
