TULSA, Okla.- Sophomore DaShaun Wood had team highs of 22 points and nine rebounds to lead Wright State to a 72-66 overtime victory at Tulsa in the first round of the Preseason National Invitation Tournament. After the teams finished regulation tied at 56, the Raiders (1-0) took the lead 20 seconds into overtime on a three-pointer by Jaron Taylor and never surrendered it. Drew Burleson scored 17 points and Everett Spencer added 13 for Wright State, while Ohio State transfer Zach Williams had 10 points and seven rebounds in his Raider debut. Wright State shot 50 percent (24-of-48) for the game and made more free throws (22-of-36) than Tulsa attempted (13-of-20). Jarius Glenn paced the Golden Hurricane (0-1) with game highs of 27 points and 11 rebounds. The Raiders travel to Arizona for a second round match-up against the Wildcats (No. 11 ESPN/USA Today, No. 10 AP) on Thursday evening at 9:00 p.m. EST. The game will be televised on Fox Sports Arizona as well as Time Warner Channel 25 in the Dayton area. Wright State is the first Horizon League team to advance past the first round of the Preseason NIT since 1988 when former member Xavier defeated Louisville, 85-83.
