Dayton, Ohio - The Wright State Raiders showed earlier this month that their commitment to the Dayton community extends further than the basketball court. Coach Paul Biancardi took his team to the Dayton Children's Hospital on Tuesday January 11, giving his players an opportunity to spend time with sick children in their community.
"Giving back to the community and helping others is something we need to do more often as a program and as individuals," said Head Men's Basketball Coach Biancardi. "We are fortunate and hopefully we helped brighten the day of those less fortunate."
Sophomore guard, DaShuan Wood explained the experience and its impact by stating, "It's fun any time you can make young kids smile. I don't like hospitals because my mom has been in them so much, but it is not about me. It's about getting kids to smile and have a great time."
The Raiders gave out magazines and posters to the children in the process of bringing smiles to their faces.
Wright State is back in action this week with a 7pm tip-off on Wednesday against Horizon League rival UIC.
