INDIANAPOLIS -- Wright State’s Cassandra Lloyd (Springfield, Ohio) and Butler’s Nicole Hudec (North Royalton, Ohio) have been named the Horizon League Women’s Track and Field Athletes of the Week for the week of Dec. 5 - 11.
Lloyd, a senior for the Raiders, competed in the 60-meter dash, 60-meter hurdles and the 4x200-meter relay this past weekend at the Purple and White Invite. She finished first in both individual events with times of 7.71 and 8.59 in the 60m dash and 60m hurdles, respectively. Lloyd also helped her relay team to a victory with a time of 1:47.15.
For the second week in a row, Butler’s Nicole Hudec has been named the Field Athlete of the Week. In her first collegiate appearance, Hudec broke Butler records in both the long jump and the triple jump with leaps of 17-5 and 36-1 respectively. The freshman competed at the Hoosier Open this past weekend and broke her own school record with a triple jump run of 36-7.50. Hudec also competed in the 55-meter dash for the first time and broke the school record with a time of 7.41. The previous time (7.94) had been set in 2001 by Jenn Sewall. This is the third Bulldog record in two weeks that the freshman has broken
Wright State and Butler will both take a break and pick up action again in January. The Raiders will compete at the Buckeye Classic in Columbus, Ohio on Jan. 6 and Butler will travel to Champaign, Ill. for the Illini Open on Jan. 14.
