INDIANAPOLIS -- Loyola freshman Keagan Potts (Edina, Minn.) and sophomore Alison Szykowny (Palos Heights, Ill.) have been named the Horizon League Indoor Field Athletes of the Week.

It is the first honor of the season for Potts and the second for Szykowny.

Competing at the Margaret Bradley Invitational, Potts took second place out of eight competitors in the pole vault. His 4.29m height broke his own school record and ranks third in the Horizon League this season. The feat is made all the more impressive due to the fact that Loyola lacks the indoor facilities for Potts to practice the event.

Szykowny's feats were just flat-out impressive without any supporting evidence as the sophomore took first in both the shot put (13.31m) and weight throw (17.10m), beating out 28 and 26 competitors, respectively. She currently leads the Horizon League in the shot put and ranks second in the weight throw.

Both Potts and Szykowny will return to action this weekend as the Ramblers compete in the Horizon League Championships at the WATTS complex on the campus of Youngstown State. The competition will begin at 9 a.m. on Saturday and is expected to conclude early Sunday evening.
