Loyola’s Mark Halma, who scored the game-winner Friday night against No. 1 seed UIC, scored in the 75th minute to give the Ramblers a 1-0 win over Cleveland State Sunday afternoon in the title match of the U.S. Army Horizon League Men’s Soccer Championship. With the win, No. 5 seed Loyola advances to the NCAA Tournament for the second time in three years.

The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee punched its ticket to the 2008 NCAA Women’s Soccer Championship with a 6-2 victory over Loyola University Chicago in the championship match of the U.S. Army Horizon League Women’s Soccer Championship Sunday afternoon at Loyola Soccer Park. UWM’s Sarah Hagen scored three goals, an assist and took eight shots to earn Tournament MVP honors.

2008 Cross Country Championship Recap

Butler University and Loyola University Chicago won the 2008 Horizon League Cross Country Championships Saturday afternoon at the Cofrin Memorial Arboretum Trails on the campus of the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay. Butler won the men’s race for the 11th straight year, while Loyola claimed the women’s event for the fifth time in school history and the first time since 2001.

With the win, the Flames successfully defended their 2007 championship crown and earned an automatic bid to the 2008 NCAA Championship.
